Introducing TTRPG Insider
A preview of why we're rebranding, the projects we've ahead and what they mean for you and your inbox.
Hey there! So this post comes with a bit of news.

Wizards of the Coast
Critical Hit News is rebranding to TTRPG Insider. This name more directly communicates what this outlet is supposed to be about and will help me focus on the practical bits. We’re still in the process of updating our visual design, but for now I’m shifting our focus on creating more original content over aggregation. I’ll also be adjusting the website in coming days, but that likely won’t affect your weekly emails.
This newsletter is a hobby project; one that I dearly care about and that I want to use to make news and talk to interesting people in the TTRPG industry. I know there are a multitude of fascinating people out there making absolutely delightful creations that deserve attention. These could be actual-play performers, marginalized writers, indie TTRPG creators or D&D-themed entrepreneurs. Every day I feel like I see new names and faces pop up, or learn about some new aspect to this hobby that I’d not heard about before. That’s why we’re shifting toward more interviews, trend pieces and actual reporting over aggregation. I’ve done a few of these in the past, but hope to expand and do more as we go forward.
I’ll still do my best to note links and interesting projects that I think are worth your time, but I want to also ensure you’re getting interesting things in your inbox every time you click and open my email.
This new refocused project will start off with a series of interviews about new TTRPG games and systems that attempt to engage with the complicated political world we live in through games and storytelling. How does one explore the nature of rebellion, political action and protest through rolling dice? I’ve spoken with a number of creators about this topic, and I’m very excited to share them with you.
Of course, I also want this to be useful to you. How can I create interviews or content to help you, the reader? Do you want resources regarding TTRPG creation? What about the business aspect? How are the current economic trends affecting the hobby? What questions do you want answered? Please let me know! I’m one person, and there’s a lot of TTRPG industry to cover.
Stay tuned to get the inside scoop! And if you’re not subscribed, you should absolutely consider it.
